Medicinal plants
Emotions, stress, feelings and your health
We know how stress influences our lives. Emotions, feelings can lead to sadness, depression, joy or happiness. Influence our decisions, relationships, jobs and futures. Stress, especially the prolonged stress has vast consequences on human health. It is the mind, the soul, the spirit, that can act like a friend or enemy to can devastate the body. The chemical medicine (the chemical drugs) treat a particular disease separately, contrary to the natural medicine, that uses medicinal plants for example and takes our whole being into account. If a person is hurting, a doctor cures a specific organ. Not the soul or mind, which often are the sources of the problem.
However nowadays, we have a choice. There are alternative healing centres, that take into account different aspects of a human being, just like in the past…
Spirit and the body
The connection between health and spirit was very popular in the 60-ties and 70-ties of the XX century. It is when people in the western world became highly interested in meditation, and observed its effects on their general health. However it was not until the 90-ties of the XX century, that the relaxation practice reached general public. People became very interested in such activities. Deepak Chopra, Oprah and others begun publishing books and creating programs (mindfulness), to help cure depression and anxiety. And then, these emotional states deeply influenced human body. The emergence of the Silva method by Jose Silva, Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping, the techniques of Letting go by David Hawkins, all recognized close connections between mental states, emotions, feelings, and the inner organs of the body.
Finally, it is interesting to know, that this idea is not new. The connection between the spirit and body was an essential part of life and healing processes in the middle ages. Back then it was the soul that was meant to be healed first. Furthermore, the immortal soul was recognized as an essential part of a human being. People believed that disease was about the soul and caused by witchcraft, which lead to a possession of the soul.
So, the bad charm had to be taken off first, followed by the herbal therapies, prayers and spells.
Healing with medicinal plants
The middle ages glorified the plants. But again, they were not first. First, the Sumerians healed with herbs 7000 (medicinal plants) years ago. George Ebers was lucky to buy and discover a 20 meter-long Egyptian papyrus (about 3 500 years old), with names of 900 plants, of which over 200 are in use in our time. Moreover, the papyrus had its name “On the preparation of drugs for all human diseases”. What’s more, in ancient Greece, Dioskurides published a 5-volume work “De Materia Medica” about herbs, to explain 600 herbs and their healing effects.
Imagine this: in a year 529 the Benedictines create their famous monastery on top of Monte Cassino. It is where they establish the first hospital where they use herbs to cure people. Nearly 900 years later in 1345 the first pharmacy is created in London.
Herbs herbs and herbs. Their versatility was studied, tested and used to heal or kill.
7 000 years of experience.
The importance of decisions
Even the introduction of chemical drugs 120 years ago, and antibiotics in 1928 did not change the interest and usage of herbs.
To heal yourself with herbs, what you need is patience. Finally, they require time to bring results. Moreover, using them day by day and being curious.
