You say that the black hulls are not edible. I grind my own whole buckwheat flour (including the hulls) in a grain mill. The result is a flour with black specks. I combine this with hulled barley flour (also ground in my grain mill) to make what I call a “breadlike” thing on my Foreman Grill. The ingredients include egg, water, olive oil, the combined flour I just mentioned, salt and baking powder. It takes about 8 minutes on the grill to bake. It smells and tastes delicious. I’ve been doing this almost every day for several years and have had no adverse reaction to consuming this buckwheat flour, hulls and all.
